Ashley Force was the winner of the first annual “Hottest Athlete” poll on AOL sports. The poll was about the best looking men and women in sports and Force beat out fellow competitor Danica Patrick and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
And it is also for this same reason why daddy Force is exerting all efforts to make the NHRA Funny Car safer not only for the sake of his daughter but for anyone who would like to ride behind the wheel of the Funny Car.
It is somewhat ironic that the NHRA Funny Car is not that funny especially if you are to bear six hours of reconstructive surgery due to compound fracture on your ankle not to mention mangled fingers and three screws inserted on your ankle---exactly what John Force the father of Ashley Force has to bear after his car snap in half.
And of course any father would not want for his daughter to suffer the same fate. John Force who is now 58, has made safety his mission that why he sent his Funny Car team’s chassis builder, Murf Mckinney to add an X-shaped cross member plus some extra bracing to the chassis to further reinforce the structure of the car thereby preventing the chassis from snapping in half in case of tire failure.
John Force is still recuperating as of the moment and won’t be able to travel to Petersburg to support his Funny Car team during the Torco Racing Fuel Nationals since he would be transferred to the rehabilitation wing of the Dallas hospital where he would have to stay for a week.
Despite Mr. Force’s condition he still made sure that Ashley will not be driving without the added safety features on her car. Her dad said, "Safety is the key issue here. You don't need four Funny Cars to win a championship. We won five with one car, so if Robert has to take it on by himself, there's no reason why he still can't win it."---Referring to his son-in-law who will be competing at Virginia Motorsports Park and will be using the new chassis with all the updates made by McKinney.
